Site Preparation & Cuts
Strip, cut and level the pad. Residential blocks, multi-unit sites, commercial pads. Machines sized to the access.

Cranbourne's estate blocks come as bare dirt with a levels plan, so the whole job is cutting them accurately and trimming the pad to the millimetre the slab needs.
Across Cranbourne, Cranbourne West, East and North the work is new-build site prep: strip the topsoil, cut the block to the levels on the plan, batter the edges and trim the pad so it hands over ready for the setout.
We work off the engineer's drawings, cart the surplus off the block rather than pushing it into a corner, and get clear so the slab crew is not waiting on us.
A lot of Cranbourne estate ground is fill placed by the developer over the original profile. Knowing where the fill stops and the natural ground starts is what decides how deep the cut goes and whether the pad needs anything under it.

Strip, cut and level the pad. Residential blocks, multi-unit sites, commercial pads. Machines sized to the access.

Final trim to spec. Concrete pads, footings, driveways, paving. Tight tolerances so the slab pour lands where it should.

Clear structures, old slabs, vegetation and rubbish. Sort what can be recovered, cart away what can't. Site tidy when we leave.

Cranbourne is two different jobs depending on which side of town you are on. The older streets around the centre are established blocks, often on their second or third owner, where the site prep starts with taking something out. The newer stages in Cranbourne East, West and North are titled lots with a levels plan and nothing on them yet. Same machines, different day.
Around the centre of Cranbourne the housing runs from post-war through to the eighties on generous blocks, and a lot of it is now being replaced with a new home or a dual occupancy. Our part starts once the house is down: break out the old slab, footings and driveway, take out the sheds and the stumps, strip the block, then cut and trim the new pad to the plan levels.
Anything built before 1990 can carry asbestos, so that is removed by a licensed removalist before we start, and the demolition itself sits under a permit from a registered building surveyor.
Cranbourne sits on the sand belt, the same sandy ground the botanic gardens were planted on and the quarries around town have dug for decades. Sand cuts fast but will not stand up in a steep face, so batters get laid back further than they would in clay.
Head east toward Clyde and the sand gives way to heavier clay, and across the newer estates most of what the machine touches is developer fill placed over the original profile. We work out which of the three we are in before the cut, because each one changes how deep we go and what the pad needs under it.
On a knock-down in Cranbourne there is paperwork that has to be done before anyone digs, and it is worth knowing the list up front. A demolition permit from a registered building surveyor, which includes the City of Casey's heritage check. A Casey asset protection permit so the footpath, kerb and nature strip are covered while trucks are crossing them. Power and gas abolished at the street, and water and sewer capped at the boundary.
On a bare estate lot none of that applies. The job is the soil report, the levels plan and a date.
Also in Cranbourne: excavation and earthmoving and civil and drainage.
Yes, that is most of what we do out here. Topsoil strip, cut to the plan levels, batters and a trimmed pad, across Cranbourne and the growth estates around it.
We can. On a tight estate lot there is usually nowhere to stockpile, so carting the surplus off as we cut is normally the cleanest way to run the job.
The pad is trimmed to the levels on the engineer's plan, not eyeballed. That is the whole point of the trim: the concreter should be able to set out straight onto it.
Yes, from the point the house is down. Breaking out the old slab and footings, removing sheds, stumps and the driveway, stripping the block and cutting the new pad to the plan levels are all part of the job, in the older streets of Cranbourne as well as the estates.
